In the most predictable results show of the season, C.J. Harris finished 7th and landed the fewest votes last night.

He’s the second Alabama man to go home in a row. This leaves Jessica Meuse (who was also in the bottom two) as the remaining Alabama resident left in the competition. And she’s been a bottom dweller two weeks in a row!

Again, Alex Preston and Caleb Johnson are the only two left who have not been in the bottom. For six weeks, I’ve been predicting a final two with those two men. That assessment has not changed.

I liked C.J. a lot as a person. He came across as sweet and pleasant, a purely likable dude. He brought soul and a bluesy style that worked well with certain songs. But he had virtually no versatility and his inability to stay in tune worked against him most of the time.

His personality (and the fact he was from Alabama) probably helped keep him in the competition far longer than anybody expected.

Recently, C.J. had been picking good songs for his voice recently but last night, his  Zac Brown performance was nothing short of embarrassing for a top 7 contestant. Even Sanjaya might have winced. He had trouble with the intonations and the pacing of the song, which is a little odd anyway (I’ve tried it myself in karaoke). One terrible performance sealed the deal.

I predicted Jena or Jessica being the other two in the bottom two so by hedging, I sort of got it right.
