“Chrisley Knows Best,” featuring the wacky sitcom-ready metro Atlanta family, returned on USA Network last night for a few “special” episodes, including a trip London and a Christmas version.
Todd Chrisley embodies the word neurotic to the bone, no doubt about it. During this first episode, he ups the annoying to an 11 while in London, where he feels unmoored. He doesn’t want his family out of his sight for a second, as if London-ites might rob them or kill them on sight.
“Have you seen ‘Taken 1’ and ‘Taken 2’? ” he said after his family disappeared on him.
Eventually, Todd gave up and “let them go.” But alas, he actually hired someone to follow them. Julie is not pleased. “You’re so stupid,” Faye said.
Faye then takes him to a Korean War memorial since Todd’s father was a Korean War veteran and lived in fear from it. “It helped my dad let go of his fears,” Savannah said.
They go onto the London Eye Ferris wheel on the south bank of the Thames, not exactly an adventurous option but Savannah does get to use her selfie stick.
Rube alert: Shockingly, Todd had never gone overseas before this London trip, which is a graduation present for Chase and Savannah. His lame explanation: “My dad always told me, ‘Son, there is no need for you to go outside the USA. You are safe right here in your own home.’ ”
Tour bore: Chase and Grayson find a London bus tour a waste of time. “I was so bored in there, I nearly passed out,” Chase said.
Cutting out: Fed up with Todd, Chase and Faye split off and go to a pub. Julie and Savannah run off to have some high tea. Todd, of course, finds them. “We don’t drink hot tea. We drink sweet tea with ice!” Todd said.
Luggage alert: They pack so much, they have a separate car just for their baggage to take to Hartsfield-Jackson. “Hell, it takes less to board the Titanic than it does with us,” he said.
