Tamar Braxton drops ‘Dancing With the Stars’ over medical issues, cancels Fox Theatre show (Nov. 12)

DANCING WITH THE STARS - “Episode 2102” - The couples geared up for one of the toughest weeks of the competition this season with two live shows and a double elimination. In "Hometown Glory" night, each couple danced two new dance styles to songs that reminded the celebrity and pro dancer of the places that shaped who they are today. At the end of the night, the couple with the lowest combined judges and viewer votes from last week was eliminated, MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 21 (8:00-10:01 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network. Tamar Braxton, a former Atlantan and now a talk-show host, R&B star and reality show regular, pulled out of ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars” after blood clots in her lungs sidelined her, TMZ reports.

The website said she landed in the hospital Monday with what appeared to be pneumonia but it appeared to be even worse: blood clots in her lungs. The site said she was “on the brink of death.”

The former Atlanta resident posted a photo this morning in the hospital, confirming TMZ’s news:

With a Heavy heart I regret to inform you that my season of #dwts has to come to an end along with the rest of my tour dates with @musicbykem. After yesterday's final #dwts performance I went back to the hospital (after the doctors didn't want me to leave in the first place) only to find out that I don't have pneumonia but something way more serious and that is having several P.E.'s (blood clots in both sides of my lungs) As you all know I will be the first to always encourage anyone to push through any obstacle that comes along one's way. But in this case, my health is my current obstacle. .. And in TRUE #tamartian form I must go about this the exact same way as I would anything else. I woke up to a mirror and saw myself this morning and that makes me the winner because that almost wasn't the case. 🏆Take care of yourselves… I love you and thank you ALL for your support❤️ p.s. Big hugs and kisses to my boo @iamvalc for being beyond a friend, brother and the BEST partner EVER😘🙌🏽🙌🏾

“The Real” host and “Braxton Family Values” star also has had to drop out of the current Kem tour as an opener. She was supposed to perform tomorrow (November 12) at the Fox Theatre but she is obviously not going to be there. R&B singer Avant will be replacing her as the supporting act. The show has not been cancelled, a spokesman said.

She’s the second celebrity this season who had a serious health scare. Atlantan Kim Zolciak was disqualified several weeks ago after she had a minor heart attack and was not allowed to travel to Los Angeles to compete.

With five dancers remaining, Braxton had a reasonable shot at making the finals in the competition. Over 12 dances, she averaged a 25.4 from the three main judges, placing her fifth, not far behind actor Carlos PenaVega at 25.8. Carlos’ wife Alexa was eliminated this week despite averaging the same: 25.8. The top two dancers, based on judges’ scores, are Nick Carter (26.5) and Bindi Irwin (27.3).
