Top 40 station Q100 recently made a move to fill its mid-day spot with a locally based host named Rachel Ryan.

She was most recently a morning co host on Energy 94.1 in San Antonio. She has also worked in Mobile.

“We talked to so many great people about taking over middays on Q100 but Rachel wanted it so much and her talent is undeniable,” said Rob Roberts, Q100 program director and operations manager, in a press release.

And in press release effusiveness, Ryan offered this: “I am beyond excited to work with Rob and the team at Q100! These guys have the most passion and drive in this business and I can’t wait to surround myself with that type of vibe and teamwork!”

Ryan, who went by Rachel “Blondie” Jones in San Antonio, lost her gig there in February after a couple of years.

Kevin Quinn, working out of Houston, had been voice-tracking mid-days. Q100 had been hunting to fill the slot for the past few weeks.

The last time I recall a live and local mid-day jock on Q100 was Jeff Miles. He left in 2013.

Q100 has recently been losing ground in ratings to Power 96.1 and Star 94.1, which has been aggressively promoting its new morning show, two former Bert Show hosts Jeff Dauler and Jenn Hobby.

Here’s a random video of Ryan when she was “Blondie” on the San Antonio morning show with some dude who went by Nugget in the fall of 2014:
