I’m at the end of a two-week vacation in Japan and Korea, still at the airport in Seoul. I missed Prince‘s death, the Kelly Ripa-Michael Strahan brouhaha, Frank Ski’s return to V-103 and former 11 Alive anchor Chuck Moore‘s passing. But I didn’t really miss anything. They have Internet overseas, of course. I just didn’t write anything. So now it’s time for catch up. First up:
“Good Day Atlanta” Gurvir Dhindsa has left Fox 5 after five years as a co-anchor. Her final day was last Friday.
A Fox spokeswoman said Dhindsa left voluntarily and provided this statement:
“We thank Gurvir for her service to ‘Good Day Atlanta’ and our viewers. We wish her well in the future.”
This is actually Dhindsa’s second stint at “Good Day Atlanta.” She was there from 1997 to 2000 as well.
“I’ve decided the time is right for me to leave FOX 5,” Dhindsa wrote on her Facebook page last Thursday, April 21. “Tomorrow will be my last day. I’ve so enjoyed the chance to be with you each morning on Good Day Atlanta. The friendships I’ve made with all of you and our Good Day team have been such a blessing. I’ve shared with you my love of family and I’m looking forward to spending more time with them. Thank you for your support and God Bless.”
What her next plans are are unclear. She has not returned interview requests via Facebook and text.
She replaced Suchita Vadlamani, who left broadcast journalism and is now married with a child.
“Good Day Atlanta” has had strong ratings throughout her second run there.
The remaining “Good Day Atlanta’ team is traffic anchor Katie Beasley , meteorologist Joanne Feldman, and news anchors Ron Gant, Karen Graham and Buck Lanford.
Between her two stints at WAGA-TV, Dhindsa worked in D.C.
