In wake of Orlando massacre, TNT pushes back season premiere of ‘Last Ship’

TNT’s hit show “The Last Ship,” which focuses on the crew of a Navy ship and the events after a worldwide epidemic, will no longer have its season 3 premiere tonight (Sunday, June 12). UPDATED: The new premiere date will be Sunday, June 19. The two-hour premiere will start at 9 p.m.

“As a result of the shootings this weekend in Orlando, tonight’s originally scheduled season premiere of ‘The Last Ship’ has been postponed,” the Turner network said in a statement Sunday. “Our hearts are with the victims and their families.”

“The Last Ship” regularly employs action violence, but the two-hour season premiere includes gunmen invading a Vietnamese nightclub and opening fire (leading to the abduction of several characters).

The Hollywood Reporter  and were among the first to report the schedule change. The show usually airs at 9 p.m. Sundays.
