Female stand-up comics can headline theaters-sized venues such as Cobb Energy and the Tabernacle. Among that selected group: Margaret Cho, Lisa Lampanelli and Maria Bamford (coming this fall to the Tabernacle).

But Amy Schumer is the first solo woman to headline Philips Arena in its history that I know of. (If anybody can come up with another name, I’d be happy to correct this but no names come to mind. Joan Rivers, for instance, did Atlanta Symphony Hall in 2014 before she passed.) Schumer – who stars Comedy Central’s “Inside Amy Schumer” – will be at Philips October 15 as part of a 50-city tour.

Tickets go on sale Tuesday, June 28 at 10 a.m. Presale starts today (Friday) at 10 a.m. through Monday at 10 p.m. (code: “amylive”). An befitting an A list comic, the prices are not cheap: $73 to $110. (You can buy them here soon.)

Schumer’s star has risen steadily in recent years with a salty mix of sex  and feminist humor. It’s hard to believe she actually received her first plaudits nearly a decade ago on “Last Comic Standing” when she came in fourth. (Winner? Jon Reep.) She was headlining the Punchline Comedy Club  as recently as 2009. She headlined Cobb Energy (2,750 seats) in 2014. She co-headlined the Oddball Comedy Festival last  year that landed at Lakewood.

The Emmy-winning comic is now a film star (“Trainwreck”) and forthcoming author, whose book comes out in August: “The Girls With the Lower Back Tattoo.”
