On “Bachelor in Paradise,” embattled Josh Murray last night managed to mollify Amanda Stanton despite Nick Viall’s attempt to spoil the waters by bringing up Andi Dorfman‘s less-than-flattering portrayal of her former fiance in her book.
“I trust you, and I’m so happy,” Stanton said to Murray after he put on full-court damage control. “The hardest part is us being so excited and so happy, and everybody else not being excited for us.”
She later told cameras: “Josh isn’t perfect, but neither am I. I don’t think anybody is. But what I can say is, Josh is perfect for me.”
Viall, who pined for both Dorfman and Stanton, shouldn’t feel so bad. He’s going to be the next “Bachelor.” ABC chose him despite the fact he was widely disliked during his season of “The Bachelorette” in 2014.
Atlanta-based TBS’s first scripted show ever shot in Atlanta “The Detour” has moved production to New York for season two. A spokesman said it was for story purposes and that it’s possible the show could return here. It’s scheduled to return in 2017.
Another TBS program – game show “Separation Anxiety” hosted by Iliza Schlesinger – debuted in March and was shot at Turner Studios. But it was a ratings bust. It’s not coming back for a second season.
Atlanta-based HLN is dropping yet another evening program – Dr. Drew Pinsky‘s 9 p.m. show. “Dr. Drew On Call” ends September 22.
Drew has been dogged with controversy over the years, including promoting questionable medical products. His VH1 “Celebrity Rehab” show, which aired from 2008 to 2012, featured five people who died soon after being on the program. A sixth Chyna recently passed as well. Many thought the last straw was Dr. Drew speculating about Hillary Clinton‘s health recently but insiders said his departure was planned before that. His long-running radio show “Loveline” also ended in April.
HLN is focusing more on hard news, which may be why Pinsky is out. Nancy Grace, whose crime-oriented show airs at 8 p.m., is leaving in October.
