DJ Kash, a long-time jock at V-103, has made the switch over to rival Hot 107.9, joining J-Nicks as part of a revised version of The Durrty Boyz.

ET Carter left late last year and recently joined the new 92.3 and 95.7/The Beat.

A Brooklyn native, Kash got his nickname while playing basketball in high school. He said he had a jump shot that someone dubbed “cash money” so that became his name. By the time, he began DJing at college parties on Long Island while attending Dowling College, he had become DJ Kash.

After graduation in 2005, he visited two sisters in Atlanta and never left. He worked clubs around town including the legendary Royal Peacock on Auburn Ave. In 2008, V-103 Program Director Reggie Rouse discovered him at the Velvet Room and offered him a job.

Over the next decade, he began building an international reputation. Kash said he had a good sense on reading crowds and giving partygoers a good time. “For me, it wasn’t about catering to the celebrities in the room,” he said. “I like to stay in touch with the people.” He recently DJed parties in Quatar and the Dominican Republic.

But Kash recently decided he needed a change of scenery and after Carter’s departure, Hot 107.9 approached him. “It was time for me to grow,” he said. “I had a great relationship with V-103.” He already was friends with J-Nicks and understood his sense of humor. “I’m already knowing what is going to come out of his mouth,” he said, before he says it.

As the son of Haitian immigrants, Kash hopes to bring a more international flavor to the Durrty Boyz.

He admits he’s a workaholic. He will be on six nights a week for Hot and four or five nights a week in the clubs after his shift. He rarely takes a day off and says even when he’s at home, he’ll often be mixing music or prepping for his show.
