The Georgia film office says MTV is going to shoot the third season of its scripted semi-anthology horror series “Scream” in metro Atlanta.

Production begins Monday, September 18.

The first two seasons were shot in Louisiana. This is the first time Georgia has ever nabbed a TV series from Louisiana. North Carolina, after it severely capped its tax credits, lost “Sleepy Hollow” in 2015, which aired for two more seasons here before being cancelled.

Louisiana’s tax credit system for movies and TV this year has been capped at $180 million a year. Georgia currently has no limit on its credits, which has helped fuel the growth of films and TV productions in the state, turning it into the third most popular state behind only California and New York.

MTV is revamping the series with a new cast and new show runner. And in a sign of financial caution, MTV is only committing to six episodes which will air over three nights in a new “binge” model. Among the new cast members include rappers Tyga and C.J. Wallace, the son of the late Notorious B.I.G. (Tyga used to date Kylie Jenner.)

Keke Palmer also has joined the cast.

The network is scheduled to debut the revamp in March, 2018.

Queen Latifah, who stars in Fox’s “Star” in Atlanta, has joined as an executive producer with Brett Matthews (Vampire Diaries”) was named show runner.

The new premise revolves around Deion Elliot, a local star running back whose tragic past comes back to haunt him at the worst time, threatening his hard-earned plans for his future — and the lives of his unlikely group of friends.
