Channel 2 WSB-TV will be airing tonight’s NFL game between the Atlanta Falcons and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. For the Falcons to have a shot at winning the division, it needs to win this game.
Channel 2’s “Sports Zone” pre-game coverage at 8 p.m. will feature Jovita Moore, Justin Farmer and the Sport Zone Team. The game is set to begin at about 8:30 p.m.
Similar to the situation a few weeks ago, WSB-TV will have to pre-empt regular programming. In this case, ABC’s season finale of “The Great Christmas Light Fight” will air at about 2:07 a.m. instead of 8 p.m. (If you have it on DVR, it should pick it up.)
And “The Year in Memoriam,” an ABC News special report focused on famous folks who have died this year was scheduled to air at 10 p.m. but will air late Tuesday night (or technically early Wednesday morning) at about 2:05 a.m. instead.
“We apologize to those viewers looking forward to ‘The Great Christmas Light Fight’ for the delay in broadcast,” said Tim McVay, Vice President and General Manager for Channel 2, in a press release. “We bid on the ESPN package two years ago and had no idea at that time which nights in the 2017 season, if any, would be awarded to Channel 2. It’s very unfortunate that the game falls on the final night of the seasonal show.”
ESPN, which requires a subscription for access, will air the game as well but WSB-TV is available for free.
WSB-TV and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution are both part of Cox Media Group.
